Among the families of the Model 1, The Nikon PhotoKina ‘86 was considered the best digital still video camera made for digital imaging. It featured a QV-mount along with an option for black and white digital imaging. Added with the Nikkor 6mm f/1.6 lens, this boosted the quality of clear images it could take. Although it had the optimal features for a digital camera in its field, it was never marketed commercially.

What did hit off in the market and became very popular was the Nikon QV-1000c. When it was introduced, it did not offer the use of film for storage of images. Instead, it used two-inch floppy disks — which gave it the capability to store around fifty images with a three hundred eighty thousand pixel resolution. Its only focus, however, was in black and white format imaging, other than that it was an excellent camera for its generation.

Introduced in 1988, the Nikon QV-1000c is presumably one of the rarest digital cameras ever made; only around 100 of these units were ever sold worldwide. Back then when digital photography was pretty young, this camera offered features such as cropping and interconnection with a remote receiver over telephone lines. It had also integrated AE control modes as well as programmed AE and manual exposure control.

The QV-1000 had a selection of shutter speeds between one eighth to two hundredths of a second, with an ISO window of four hundred and sixteen hundred. Additional features are exposure compensation for lighting difficulty and a memory lock.

One thing that makes a camera stand out, aside from the basic quality and features that it has, is also the accessories that come with it. Lenses that you can adapt to the basic frame make a whole lot of difference in terms of flexibility and capability. Good quality lenses will be able to adjust for a myriad of factors that hamper and distort lighting.

Adaptability with other equipment is a plus also. For digital cameras, connectivity to a computer is a great advantage. There are cases wherein you need to do a few adjustments with the raw pictures you have taken. Taking pictures is all about the moments that you can capture in a particular instance, a second too late and you would have lost it. Without the digital studio to make adjustments to the few photos you took, then you would not be able to make a good interpretation of that moment.
